Blessings

It's been a while since I set up this blog, and it's crazy that I'm just getting around to posting something!...amazing how life moves so fast in front of us!

It's easy to become so busy that we don't take the time to appreciate life's everyday blessings. When we open our eyes each morning it's a blessing. Our family and friends who love us are blessings. Our health is a blessing. I can go on and on, but you get my drift. These blessings are monumental, yet we often take them for granted because we rush from here to there without taking the time to slow down and enjoy them.

This morning I was moving fast, as usual, but then God slowed me down so I could receive a beautiful blessing!!

I was at my computer working to complete several tasks when my phone rang. Well, being the busy bee that I am, I wasn't going to break my stride to look at the caller ID, but something nudged me to take a glimpse. When I did, I saw my parent's number appear. NOTE: Mom & Dad take priority! I picked up the phone expecting to hear my mother's always chipper voice, but instead I heard a deep, roaring baritone...It was my father! Now let me tell you, unlike my mom, daddy doesn't make a lot of social calls. "How's my sunshine," he said. When I heard my father's voice it immediately put a smile on my face.

I put my work aside and enjoyed a long conversation with my dad. We talked about the past, the present, and the future. My father is a very serious person, but there's a side of him that is completely halarious without even trying to be...and that's what makes him so funny! Needless to say, I laughed, talked, and enjoyed the pearls of wisdom he gave me...as he always does. My father is a minister, and he talked about blessings. He told me that my siblings and I are blessings to him, and that he's proud of each of us. He talked about the little things in life that make a big difference. He talked about struggle, and how things are darkest just before the light comes out to shine bright. He talked about family, and love, and again, life's blessings. My father reminded me that I need to take the time each day to appreciate the simple, yet profound blessings that God has given me.

We all have busy lives, hectic schedules, and time commitments that keep us moving faster than we probably should. But as I'm going to do, I want to encourage you to take a few moments each day to reflect on your blessings and the people around you. If a friend or loved one falls on your mind, call them because you never know what a blessing your voice will be to them. I know my father was a blessing to me today!...thanks Daddy!

Peace,
Trice
